Advocacy Platform

The Florida Professionals in Infection Control (FPIC) is recognized as the leading professional organization among infection prevention and control experts throughout the state. Through promotion of evidenced-based epidemiological principles and practices our society promotes public policy advocacy, professional development, and collaboration with state partners.  The goal of our society is to serve as a resource to policy makers during the development of legislation that impacts our profession and infection prevention practice.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that over the last 20 years vaccines prevented more than 21 million hospitalizations and 732,000 deaths among children. Further, immunizations have saved nearly $295 billion in direct costs and $1.38 trillion in total societal costs in the United States.

FPIC supports and advocates for the development of public policy that aligns with the large body of evidenced-based literature that support the reduction of vaccine-preventable diseases that contribute to death, disease, and disability worldwide. It is imperative that legislation reflects the long-standing history that vaccines are safe, effective, and the primary prevention method of vaccine-preventable diseases.

We encourage all members of our profession to contact their elected leaders in the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate and encourage them to support public policy that advances the science and practice of infection prevention and control.
