Awards Program

The goal of our awards program is to recognize leadership, collaboration, and innovation at both the organizational and individual levels. We are asking members of our profession to help celebrate the work we do in promoting scientifically-based infection control and epidemiological principles and practices by nominating one of your colleagues and/or your organization for the following awards:

The Emerging Leader Award recognizes newer members who have already made significant contributions to the society and or to the profession and have demonstrated the potential for leadership and continuing service.

A Nominee for the Emerging Leader Award Must:

  • Be a FPIC member in good standing;
  • Not have previously received an Emerging Leader Award;
  • Have made a significant contribution to the society through service on one or more committees;
  • Have shown outstanding promise for continuing service and leadership. Specific examples of his/her continuing activities must be provided.

The Outstanding IP Award is presented to a FPIC member who has made significant contributions to our society and or the profession of Infection Control and Prevention.

A Nominee for the Professional Recognition Award Must:

  • Be a FPIC member for at least consecutive  five years.
  • Have participated in FPIC committees and/or made presentations during educational meetings or activities;
  • Have demonstrated resourcefulness and innovation in the field of infection control and prevention.
  • Have been responsible for major contributions to the advancement of the profession of the profession through authorship, teaching, research innovation, etc.

The Infection Prevention Impact Award is conferred on an organization (or facility) which has demonstrated excellence in promoting scientifically-based infection control and epidemiological principles.

A Nominee for the Infection Prevention Impact Award Must:

  • Demonstrate excellence, innovation or improvement in infection prevention and control practice, service delivery or education.
  • Create opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration to promote effective infection prevention.
  • Advocate for the inclusion of effective infection prevention between groups or levels of care.
  • Promote scientifically-based infection control and epidemiological principles as a means to protect the organizations workforce, patients served and the public at large.

The Advocacy Award is given to an individual who (or organization that) has made a significant contribution to public policy or community service.

The Nominee for the Advocacy Award must:

  • Be a FPIC member in good standing;
  • Participated in FPIC Advocacy opportunities
  • Influences policy at a local, state, national or international level
  • Connected with political leaders to drive change for patient safety and infection prevention

The Excellence in Mentoring Award is awarded to a FPIC member who invests their time and efforts to the growth of another infection Preventionist through the FPIC mentorship program.

The Nominee for the Excellence in Mentoring Award must:

  • The nominee(s) must have impacted the career of the mentee
  • The mentee must write a letter describing in 1000 words or less how their mentor has guided their career
  • The letter must demonstrate the relationship and mutual growth
  • The mentee must provide examples of how the mentoring occurred
  • Nominee(s) must be a member of FPIC
