Advocacy Alert - Update on Special Session
As reported last week Governor DeSantis issued a proclamation (click here) convening the Legislature in Special Session from Tuesday, April 28, 2026, through Friday, May 1, 2026, for the purpose of considering legislation related to the drawing of congressional districts, creating strong consumer protections for artificial intelligence, and expanding medical freedom in our state.
Last Friday Senator Yarborough filed bill (SB 6D) to expand vaccine exemptions for K-12 schools, creating a new “conscience” category for parents to opt out of immunizations.
Today however, as lawmakers opened the session primarily aimed at redrawing congressional districts, House Speaker Daniel Perez said the ancillary issues (AI and Medical Freedom) are off the table this week because no bill was filed in his chamber.
